Cloisonne bowl and lid: Jasmine Watson 2009

Introduction to Cloisonne  

​

Small wire fences are laid onto a metal base, and used to enclose

coloured areas  of enamel. 

​

Tutor:    Jasmine Watson | Cost: $500 

Dates:  Thursday November 14th, 21st, 28th, and December 5th

             10:00 am - 1:00 pm

Venue: Anvil Studios, 161 Point Chevalier Road, Point Chevalier, Auckland 1022

​Learn enamelling with acclaimed jeweller and enamellist Jasmine Watson. This four-day  class is an introduction to the complex and beautiful technique of Cloisonné enamel. 

Using transparent Japanese enamels, students will learn metal preparation of copper and  silver, and wire application on a flat and a 3-dimensional surface. They will be shown enamel  preparation, wet laying, kiln firing, and a variety of finishing techniques and finding options.

The cost includes all materials except silver, which can be purchased, as you require. ​

Introduction to Plique-a-jour  

​

'Light of day.' Small wire fences are pierced into a metal base, and used to

enclose  coloured areas of transparent enamel. The back is open,

giving the appearance of  stained glass.  

​

Tutor: Jasmine Watson | Cost: $640 

Dates: Sunday November 10th and Sunday November 17th 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

Enamel fills depressions created in the metal surface.
