ABOUT THE TUTORS
DOROTHY DE LAUTOUR
I am a graduate from Unitec with a degree in Design and Visual Arts - contemporary jewellery. Since graduating in 2013, I have been involved in several exhibitions and events and have participated at jewellery conferences both in New Zealand and Australia. This has further inspired me to continue establishing my practice and fuelled my passion for contemporary jewellery with its wide and varied opportunities. 
"An interest in the everyday, notably experienced through a sense of place is the where I take my inspiration. Using both the urban and natural elements of our environment, I often use found objects to reflect its current character with an intent to rediscover its layers of history and identity."
INGRID VAN HEUSDEN
I graduated from Unitec School of Design in 2011 with a Bachelor of Design and Visual Art - Contemporary Craft (Jewellery major). As a jewellery designer and maker, I am concerned with the utilisation of the many materials that I have at hand and the realisation that the unwanted can be upcycled and crafted along with traditional jewellery materials to create beautiful artefacts.

Being stimulated by the beauty of my surroundings, I collect flotsam and jetsam along with many found objects and take pleasure in placing these into the context of jewellery.

I am continuously learning new skills and enjoy growing my jewellery practice. My work is currently stocked and sold in seven NZ galleries and I run my own website.
TRACY WATSON
I have worked in the fashion and design industry for the last 15 years before focusing my energy into contemporary jewellery, graduating with a Diploma in Advanced Jewellery Practice from MIT in 2014. I am currently represented by Fingers and Royal Jewellery Studio and have exhibited nationally.

My practice reflects an awareness of my environment, often inspired by the wonderful Waitakere Ranges and surrounding West Coast beaches.
PHILLIPA GEE
Phillipa is a NZ trained teacher and then went on to complete a BA in Fine Art majoring in Contemporary jewellery at RMIT in Melbourne. Phillipa returned to study a few years ago to complete a Diploma in Applied Art at Whitireia.
She has taught art at secondary level and jewellery making at tertiary level.
Phillipa loves the making process and is thrilled that she has a profession where she gets to play and experiment. She enjoys trying out the many techniques and materials that can be made into jewellery, and likes to incorporate colour, pattern and texture in her work.
She loves jewellery because it is small and precious, and enjoys that many people form an emotional attachment to the pieces.
Phillipa was the owner of QUOIL Gallery in Wellington for 12 wonderful years and now she is excited to be a fulltime jeweller again, and to be teaching classes at Anvil Studios.
